PLEASE BE SURE TO HAVE ACCESS CODE TO CABIN BEFORE DEPARTURE FROM HOME AS CELL SERVICE IS WEAK AT THE CABIN! Important note: We do NOT post this cabin on Craigslist. If you try to book through Craigslist this is a scam. Unfortunately Craigslist is very slow deleting the false post. All bookings are to be made through VRBO only. We are working diligently to catch the person doing this and hope to have he or she removed from Craigslist soon. This is a 3 bedroom, 1 bath authentic log cabin. Bedroom 1 has a queen bed, bedroom 2 has two twin beds, and bedroom 3 offers twin bunk beds. There is also a pull-out queen sofa sleeper and two twin roll-way beds. ***PLEASE ENTER YOUR DATES FOR SEASON SPECIFIC PRICING. RATES ARE BASED ON UP TO A FOUR PERSON OCCUPANCY. FOR EACH PERSON OVER FOUR, ADD $10 PER PERSON PER NIGHT.*** The home can be heated with central furnace heat or fireplace. Each bedroom also has an electric stove heater for personal comfort. There is no air conditioning at this time. The main living area is an open floor plan, with the kitchen separated from the rest of action only by an island bar. This makes for easy entertaining and ensures that even the cook is not left out of the action. The living room, dining, kitchen, and bedrooms 1&2 have open ceilings with beautiful exposed log beams. The ceilings are walls are closed, so you can expect privacy and quiet when the doors are closed! Open the sliding glass doors and step outside onto the patio and you will find four inviting Adirondack chairs just beckoning you and a good book or a pair of binoculars. Down on the flat next to the river you will find more Adirondack chairs and a fire pit for those cooler spring and fall evenings. Frequently Asked Questions: 1) IS THE CALENDAR UP TO DATE? DO YOU HAVE AVAILABILITY FOR OUR DATES? *YES, the calendar is always up to date! If it says that it hasn't been updated for a few days, that just means that we haven't made changes to it recently. There is not another calendar anywhere. If it says we are booked, we are booked! If it says we have an opening, we'd love to have you stay with us! 2) DO WE NEED TO BRING OUR OWN FIREWOOD? *YES, you should bring your own firewood. There is a woodshed that *may have* wood in it. If there is some left, you are welcome to use it. However, we are having an ongoing issue with theft of the wood by both guests and an undetermined third party so when it's gone it will not be replaced. ONLY the fireplace and fire pit are approved for fires. The wood stove is non-functional and may not be used. 3) ARE TOWELS AND BEDDING PROVIDED? *YES, both towels and bedding are provided. 4) CAN WE HAVE A PARTY AT THE CABIN? CAN WE SMOKE? *NO, under no circumstances will smoking or house parties be allowed. Large family reunions need to be discussed in advance. 5) DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN COFFEE AND FILTERS? *YES, you need to bring your own coffee and filters. There is a Mr. Coffee brand coffee pot if you would like to use it. 6) IS THERE ENOUGH PARKING FOR MY VEHICLE AND TRAILER? *YES, there is plenty of parking. The driveway goes in a huge circle so trailers do not need to backed in and turned. There is room for at least 10 trucks with trailers, but of course there will never be that many, as parties are not allowed! 7) DO YOU HAVE A GRILL? IS IT OPEN IN THE WINTER? *YES, there is a charcoal grill available but depending on the depth of snow it may be hard to access in the winter. There is also a gas grill on the back deck with a spare propane tank in the front closet(usually). The spare propane has 'disappeared' several times, so if you definitely want to grill it is safest to bring charcoal. 8) DO I NEED TO BRING TOILET PAPER? *There is an initial supply of toilet paper and paper towels provided. If your party needs a large amount, please bring additional paper products with you. 9) IS THERE A STOVE AT THE CABIN FOR COOKING? *There is both a gas stove with an oven as well as a microwave. There is not a dishwasher and guests are asked wash any dishes that are used. 10) DO YOU HAVE INTERNET ACCESS? *NO, we do not have internet access and cell access is limited at the cabin depending on your carrier. (Owner Nikki has AT&T and she has little/no coverage at the cabin. Owner Mark has Verizon and his coverage is better but not great.) 11) WHAT ABOUT WILDLIFE? *YES, there is plenty of beautiful wildlife in our area. There was a bear sighting at the cabin in 2014 and 2015 due to guests leaving trash outside instead of in the bear-proof receptacle (not allowed!). Whitetail deer and wild turkey are the most common visitors. This is a cabin set on 80 acres of otherwise undisturbed pure Michigan wilderness so there is an abundance of wildlife including but not limited to whitetail deer, rabbit, fox, coyote, otter, mink, turkey, grouse, etc. Always observe from a distance and exercise common safety sense. In addition, it is normal in northern Michigan when the weather starts to become cold that wildlife will start seeking out warm areas to winter. On occasion particularly in the fall, we will have a field mouse or two that tries to make his winter home in the cabin. Again, this is not a reflection on the cleanliness of the cabin but a normal annual occurrence in the northwoods - they are looking for a warm place just like humans. We do have repellent stations in place but one still may be seen on rare occasion. Black flies and mosquitos are other extremely common pests in the northwoods and you may see some in the windows, in particular if the doors have been left open without the screen. On warmer summer and fall days you can absolutely expect a black fly hatch to occur. If seeing black flies start to appear in the windows facing the sun is a problem for you, please do not book during any months when a hatch could occur. We have no way of controlling Mother Nature in regard to these pests! Of course if you have other questions you are always welcome to contact us.

Cleaning fees booked directly through Freshwater Vacation Rentals are NOT taxable. (This is a way to save you $$.) b, Even though our room rate is generally less per night during the Spring, Fall and Winter, no one wants the cleaning quality to decrease. c. We expect our cleaners to clean at the same level they would for the Peak Summer season, year-round. d. We pay our cleaners a living wage. They deep clean, wash all the linens and prep each bed, regardless of how many people are on the reservation. Perspective: a. When a couple is staying at a large house, and using only 25% of it, do they really want the home cleaned only 25%? Of course not. b. When considering how many beds will be used, there are many variables-- Who are couples? Just friends? Family? Do all couples sleep in the same bed? Who snores? c. Yes, sometimes the cleaner will make more money on your stay than the property owner or management company. It is essential to keep the space fresh and consistently cleaned throughout the year. Please note: If you are truly just staying in as a couple at the West Hagerman Lake House, and will not need to venture upstairs, we can do so at a reduced cleaning fee upon request. If we can, we will. It's the Freshwater Vacation Rentals positive guest experience mantra. Dock: Private 55 ft. dock with seating area (chairs included). House in Iron River, MI

Enjoy the north woods on beautiful Iron Lake. This 3-bedroom home has 300+ ft of frontage on a quiet 300 acre lake just minutes from Iron River and US 2. In the tradition of the U.P., we fondly call this place, da Lake House. Fully equipped home ready for your vacation. Majestic cedars pepper our lake property while a stand of trees on each side of the property provides a feeling of seclusion and privacy. It doesn't matter what time of year ... every season possesses a unique feeling in this area of the Upper Peninsula. In the spring and summer ... well, just come and relax. Hang a hammock (included) between two cedars and read a book or take a nap. Fish from the pier or from one of the boats. Take a quiet walk down the road or through the woods. Paddle around the lake and watch for eagles, deer, loons, and other wildlife. The shoreline is sand for the first 15 feet. A nice, clear, spring-fed Wisconsin lake, the water is always refreshing. Snorkel off the end of the pier and watch the little fish come nibble on you. (kayak, paddle boat, alum canoe, and 10' alum fishing boat with oars provided, inc life vests and anchors) In the fall, the view of the hardwoods across the lake provides a private showing of changing color. No other properties are visible directly across. The crisp air is refreshing and can make you feel alive. Get your favorite refreshment in hand and watch great sunsets directly across the lake. A fire in the lake-side fire pit is a great way to salute the end of the day. (firewood available) In the winter, enjoy an exceptional sledding and skiing hill in Caspian, just on the edge or Iron River. Ski Brule is only 20 minutes away with snowboarding, tubing, cross country trails and excellent skiing. A number of quality cross-country ski trails are located within minutes of Iron River along with 4-wheeler trails. A large plaza is on the edge of town with big grocery store, movie rental, pharmacy and the UP's biggest ACE hardware on the south edge of town. Fast food and great specialty shops and restaurants throughout Iron River. Many of the UP's finest waterfalls are within minutes of here. Ice fishing is popular throughout the area, including on Iron Lake. Snowmobiling is a very popular sport with the local visitor's bureau having maps and details. The house is fully equipped with virtually all the amenities you'll need for an enjoyable stay. No WiFi at da Lake House, but plenty of free access in town. Find more details on the internet at da-lake-house.. Ask me if you qualify for a stay at da Lake House. Set in the Northwoods of the UP of Michigan in the Ski Brule Subdivision. Close to snowmobile trails, skiing, and all around winter fun for all! Also offers peaceful tranquility in the summertime. Gas fireplace and outdoor hot tub year round! My husband, Drew, and I (and our 2 kids and zoo of fur babies) currently reside on the East Coast in North Carolina. However, Iron River is where I grew up. I spent many of my winter days at Ski Brule. Most of my family still live close by so we decided to buy our own place. We only get up there about twice a year, so we thought it would be a good idea for others to be able to appreciate it's charm and quaintness. Although, if it were up to Drew he would love to permanently move there ;) We enjoy our visits to the Great White North and we hope you do too!
